All-Family Hospitality Help

An all-hands effort will keep brunch going strong. You can sign up to help with parish cleanup once a quarter here. Or, if you don't prefer to choose a Sunday, the hospitality group will assign Sundays, starting in February. Duties and timeframes are outlined in the signup.

Septuagesima

Our Sunday schedule begins with a Sung Mass at 8 am, followed by CGS and Youth Groups from 9:30-10:45 am. The Legion of Mary leads the public recitation of the Rosary starting at 9:40 am in the church and meets at 10:00 am in the Newman House. Confessions are heard beginning at 10:30 am, and the principal Sung Mass (with full choir) begins at 11 am. A coffee hour follows each Mass. Candlemas and Oath of Office, Monday Feb 2nd 6pm

The broader, traditional Christmas season ends on Candlemas (the Presentation of the Lord), when we also bless the candles of the year. Bring your own to be blessed at the altar! We recount the dedication of the Lord in the temple as Simeon can now "depart in peace".

On this occasion, Bishop Joseph Coffey of the Archdiocese for the Military Services will administer the Oath of Office to Fr. Scharbach as a chaplain for the United States Navy Reserve. The Oath will take place immediately before Mass. Bishop Coffey will then be the principal celebrant of the Mass.

The Presentation of the Lord has many layers of symbolism, and significant among them is Mary and Joseph's dedication of Jesus to God's service. It is a fitting backdrop as Fr. NOTA BENE -- For those who aren't already aware, Fr. Scharbach has been working for the last two years towards becoming a Reserve Navy Chaplain, fulfilling a desire and sense of calling that goes back 20 years. The commitment is two days per month and two weeks per year. Bishop Lopes approved Fr. Scharbach for this role to fulfill our duty to support the Armed Forces. Fr. Scharbach is the only Ordinariate priest currently serving with the U.S. Navy.

Troops of St George

Our local troop of the Troops of St George meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. We meet at the All Saints Sisters Convent in Catonsville. Troops of St George is a great chance for dads and their sons to grow in their faith together as well as enjoy the outdoors and learn life skills and virtues. Learn more at troopsofsaintgeorge.org and contact our Troop Captain Mr. Mike Morgan if you would like to join or help. Troops is for boys ages 6 to 18, and their dads.
