Our Bus Stop Breakfast Ministry

On two Saturdays of each month, Mount Calvary parishioners prepare and serve a hot breakfast to the community outside our front doors. There is a methadone clinic across the street from the church, and many men and women who are struggling with addiction visit the clinic on Saturday mornings for treatment. We are able to serve them in a small way as we hand out egg sandwiches and hot coffee. The ministry, although new, has brought many opportunities for deep conversation, prayer, and witness. And we hope we can continue to touch the hearts of these men and women with the love of Christ and give them hope in their struggles.

It is our goal, in memory of Theresa Ortman and Tom Cassedy, and as part of their legacies, to expand this ministry to weekly instead of monthly. May their struggles inform our response to those around us who struggle in the same way. As we seek to reach out to our neighbors, may they also know the love from God's Church that Theresa and Tom certainly knew from their families and friends.
